Firm Overview

History of the Firm. For six decades, GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS has been assisting clients by providing the highest quality of legal service in central California. Founded just prior to World War II, GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS began as a firm of tax specialists. Over the years, our practice has expanded to include the wide range of services needed by the agricultural, manufacturing, financial, development, environmental, and professional concerns of area residents. For most of its existence, the firm was known as Thomas, Snell, Jamison, Russell & Asperger - or Thomas & Snell, for short. In 2001, the firm changed its name to GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS, P.C.

Current Practice. Today, GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS maintains a full-service business practice emphasizing business organization and planning, property transactions, estate planning and administration, and litigation. (For more information, see Areas of Practice.) We endeavor to provide legal services to our clients with a standard of quality equal to that of the best law firms in major metropolitan areas.

Due to the increasing complexity of the practice of law, GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS has found it desirable for its attorneys to develop special expertise, which enables the firm to provide clients with quality services in a cost-effective manner. GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS considers each client to be a client of the entire firm, and all of its resources are placed at the client’s disposal.

The development and maintenance of legal expertise depends on an ongoing learning process extending beyond graduation from law school. All attorneys at GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS are encouraged to pursue continuing legal education and a number of our attorneys also have taught legal courses and seminars, authored legal books and articles, and made presentations in their areas of expertise.

Charges for legal services at GILMORE, WOOD, VINNARD & MAGNESS are based primarily upon the amount of time devoted to the client’s affairs, although we are willing to consider other billing arrangements if doing so proves more suitable for the particular client’s situation. It is our policy to deliver a detailed statement of our billing procedures to all new clients, and we encourage clients to ask any questions that they may have about our billing procedures and charges.

The firm's offices are conveniently located at the northeast corner of Fresno and Herndon Avenues, just blocks from the Freeway 41 off ramp. Situated on the top floor of Building 1 of the Woodward Centre office complex, we are in close proximity to the highly desirable Woodward Park and River Park areas of Fresno.

Although our offices are located in Fresno, the firm represents clients throughout central California, including regular representation of clients from Stockton to Bakersfield and along the central coast.
